Director of Membership at ORCID

How do you organise meetings with a team that’s so spread out across the globe that it’s difficult to find time slots that everybody is available for a conference call? We ask Matthew Buys, Director of Membership at ORCID.

ORCID is a nonprofit organisation that helps to create a world in which all who participate in research, scholarship and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions and affiliations, across disciplines, borders, and time. My team is spread from Taipei to San Francisco which makes it challenging to find a time to speak with each other.

Why did ORCID choose Yabbu?

Working with a remote team has become the new normal, but that doesn’t mean finding and using the right tools is easy. In our team we were use a range of tools, such as Google Docs, Slack, Trello, Bluejeans, Skype, Google Hangouts and GoToMeeting and continue to seek ways to make our meetings more effective. I chose Yabbu for my team as it enables our team members to interact in an efficient manner, make better decisions and track progress over time.

What did it bring you?

As we have started using Yabbu it has allowed us to conduct more productive meetings, keep track of the meeting series and participation in meeting sessions (even when not actually present on our weekly calls). Yabbu has yielded positive results for us as we can often resolve many discussion points prior to the actual call and make effective decisions.
